Local contractor receives two awards from Corps of Engineers SAINT PAUL, MINN. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will present Industrial Contract Services, Inc., of Grand Forks, N.D., the “2002 Contractor of the Year” and the “2002 Excellence in Partnering” awards this month for the company’s work on the East Grand Forks Phase 1 Levee Project in East Grand Forks, Minn.
The company’s $21 million contract with the Corps of Engineers included building multiple levee sections and pump stations in East Grand Forks. This contract is part of the Corps’ $350 million Grand Forks, N.D., flood control project.
ICS, Inc., provided outstanding cooperation with the Corps, the city, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, local utility companies and other contractors working in the same area throughout the project, as well as performed its construction work with excellence. The efforts of ICS allowed the project to stay ahead of schedule and on budget with minimal disruptions to the local population.
“ICS, Inc., has excelled in all areas of construction,” said Bruce Boldon, USACE St. Paul District’s chief of construction. “Their cooperation with the various government agencies and local community is in the highest traditions of partnering.”
Col. Robert Ball, USACE St. Paul District’s district engineer, will present this award to ICS, Inc., in Orange Beach, Ala, on Feb. 7, during the 75th annual meeting of the Mississippi Valley Branch of the Associated General Contractors.
The Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, serves the American public in the areas of environmental enhancement, navigation, flood damage reduction, wetlands regulation, recreation sites and disaster response.
